Well. Marjorie Morningstar: The Movie broke my heart. I wish I'd left well enough alone. The good news is that it was SO terrible, I'll never superimpose Natalie Wood (who was blinky and moist eyed and trembling lips and stammering stupidity for the entire 2 hours. Also, there was the most unfortunate dance number I have ever had the misfortune to witness. It was BAD.) over the image of what Marjorie looks like in my head, which, I think is very much like Cyd Charisse. As for the Noel character, well, not that Gene Kelly isn't fabulous, but Noel was supposed to be a lanky blonde. Please note that Gene Kelly isn't anywhere near to a lanky blonde. Also note that the person running this page has a crush on a very very old (or dead, is Gene Kelly dead?) man.
Clearly, this whole movie disturbed a treasured old memory of mine, and I'm just going try and put it all out of my head as soon as I possibly can. Natalie Wood, indeed. It was really that bad. I mean, so bad that I went and voiced my discontent about it on both amazon and imdb.com. I know. Bitching about a 45 year old movie probably isn't a really useful way to spend my time, but still. FUCK that movie. Natalie Wood and Gene Kelly smashing their faces uncomfortably together? A steaming pile.
So, my vacation is coming to a close. Sadly, that also means that my daily posting will also come to a close. That may be good or bad, depending. Do you prefer a longer wait, but for better entries? I suspect it's a tossup. You'll be happy to hear, though, that I'm also off for a week in March, and similarly to now, I've made no plans! Yeah! Maybe I'll make a friend or something by then.
Happy Valentine's Day. Listen to the song on the index page. It's Big Head Todd, and for the life of me, I've never been able to figure out why the song was never a giant hit.
